Who is my distribution network operator?
Your distribution network operator (DNO) is the company that owns the infrastructure that distributes power from the national grid network to your business. In the UK there are 14 different DNO regions which are managed by 6 operators. If you upgrade the power at your site to support your EV fleet, you need to inform your DNO of any changes. Fleet electrification, an Arcadis EV transition solution, supports businesses looking to transition their petrol and diesel fleet to electric. Their unique solution will also help ensure that the right charging infrastructure is in place across all properties within an organisation’s property portfolio. In this way, we can provide a full bespoke blueprint for fleet electrification – including charge management, procurement support, programme and project management, and supply and installation of charging infrastructure.
It is estimated that by 2025, 20% of all cars sold will be electric. This will have a huge impact on reducing air pollution but, as a result of lower running costs and being cheaper to maintain, will help to generate significant cost savings. Big organisations with large fleets, like the Metropolitan Police, and many other central government departments, are already making a real transition to electric vehicles and, with increasingly stringent government targets coming into play, we can expect more businesses – including our own – to follow suit.”
